G'day,
Trevor B (the Vietnam Aussie I probably knew the best) met us at our hotel this morning with two bikes besides his own. He had the morning all planned, a five hour bike ride around and through Adelaide, including their shopping areas, city buildings, memorials and their Saturday indoors market. The pace included walks, winding through and among motorized traffic and some sprints along the river bike paths...very good to be on a bike again! What a great way to see a pretty sizable city (over a million folks, culturally diverse). Unlike NZ, we are now on flat land, quite green with recent rainfalls. In a little while Trevor and Jean will meet us for seafood, and tomorrow will be a barbecue at their home (socially grilled meal, not with barbecue sauce in those barbecues we have encountered to date) Rumor has it we are being served lamb. Trevor has indicated that we will meet other people at their home, and I am thinking maybe a few of the other Aussies from my Vietnam stint.
We will spend Monday at Kangaroo Island... a long tour from 6:30 to 23:00, but it seems we simply cannot miss it according to many we have met.
ps Dinner was delicious and what a wonderful evening of conversation...
