G'day,

Early morning Mimi and I shored up a few transportation and lodging issues for later in the week, and then waited for Trevor at 11:30.  He took us to their home on the edge of the city, a beautiful area overlooking a wooded area (where they frequently see koalas and occasionally, kangaroos) and a filed that is part of a national preserve.  Their home is awash in perennials, has  an exquisite setting and is stunning, as you may note from the pictures.
Lunch included shish-ka-bob kangaroo (texture and taste like venison), lamb on the grill, potato salad, stuffed mushrooms, grilled zucchini, tomatoes, a fig/spinach/shaved parmesan salad.  Simply scrumptious, and we brought appetites to the table.  We had pavlova cake for dessert as well as local chocolates and almond ‘biscuits’ (cookies) made by Trevor and of course champagne and wine or beer. Very lively conversation, with Trevor and I catching up on Vietnam memories (we had the same jobs there, him plotting fire for the 102 battery while I was his counterpart with the US 155 guns).  He filled in some blanks that had always puzzled me.
Jean is a tournament caliber Scrabble player so Mimi and her engaged in three games (2-1 for Jean), while Trevor coached me through a taped game of Aussie football...a whole set of rules and plays new to me.
It was Mimi’s birthday and what a special day it was spent at Trevor and Jean’s. We could not have been more welcomed and spoiled by their generosity and hospitality.
We are hoping they visit us in the US some time in the next couple of years.
Tomorrow is early rising for a tour of Kangaroo Island. Back at 23:00.

Such a wonderful meal... and a Coral Battle stubby holder (= beer cozy)

  1. Je suis contente que vous ayez passé une bonne journée avec un bon repas . Je suis plus impatiente de voir les kangourous dans leur milieu naturel que dans votre assiette ...
A bientôt pour de nouvelles aventures et de nouveaux exploits !
